Annenberg/CPB Exhibits - Amusement Park Physics
How do physics
laws affect amusement park ride design? In this exhibit, you'll have a
chance to find out by designing your own roller coaster. Plan it
carefully--it has to pass a safety inspection. You can also experiment
with bumper car collisions.
Annenberg/CPB Exhibits - Garbage
In this exhibit, you can find out
how to improve next year's environmental record. You'll learn how waste
is handled now and how some communities are doing it better. In the
activities, you can test your knowledge about hazardous waste we
generate in our homes and try to shrink a landfill.
Bad Science
Bad Science abounds and comes in many guises. This
page sets out to attack only one brand: well understood phenomena
which are persistently presented incorrectly by teachers and writers,
presumably because they either do not know any better or because they
don't really care enough to get it correct. By publicizing examples of bad
science, I hope to sensitize students, teachers and writers to the horrors
of such glib explanations or representations.

Recycle City
Featuring The Dumptown Game. You are Dumptown's new City
Manager! When you start to play, you'll see Dumptown at its worst - it's littered, polluted, and nothing is being recycled or reused. There
are many trash cans and dumpsters, but no recycling bins. That means all
of the trash is going right into the landfill just outside town, where it isn't
doing anyone any good. In your new position, you can start programs
that encourage Dumptown's citizens and businesses to recycle and
reduce waste.
