Sometimes a person can have an intolerance for certain foods. The way to find out is to pay attention to how you feel after eating that food.
Yesterday, I ate some sunflower kernels and then a little later a cucumber with salt. I started feeling really irritable soon afterwards and I started getting a headache. Dr. Atkin's book says that sometimes a person can have an intolerance for certain foods and the way to find out is to pay attention to how you feel after eating that food.
So today, I was feeling really good and I decided to test the sunflower kernels. Sure enough, about a half hour passed and I was shaky and very irritable and my head started to hurt. I don't know if it was the kernels or all the extra salt. I guess I'll have to try unsalted kernels and see.
Update: I never tried unsalted kernels, but I have had tomatoes, pickles and popcorn loaded with salt. I don't think the salt was the problem.
